It's so interesting to follow the election outside of the U.S.---Korean papers actually spend a fair amount of space on Obama and McCain--but it's especially fun to hear my students' opinions. While teaching my writing class last week, students were trying to get me to stop talking about supporting sentences so that they could hear my opinions on McCain and Obama. Most of my students are pretty pro-Obama--in fact, Emily even has a student who's using Obama as his English name. After so many years of trying to figure out what my teachers thought about issues, it's kind of fun for me to see how much I can keep my opinion to myself.
And although the political enthusiast inside of me is enjoying following the scene, I can't help join the rest of the country in looking forward to November and the end of this madness.
